Integrating both approaches can provide a comprehensive educational experience that equips students with both the conceptual framework and the practical skills needed for success.
**Jesus’ Teaching Approach: Conceptual or Skill-Based/Factual?**
In my opinion, Jesus primarily taught through a conceptual lens. His teachings often focused on broader principles and moral truths rather than specific skills or factual knowledge. For instance, in the Sermon on the Mount, Jesus conveyed core values such as love, humility, and forgiveness (Matthew 5-7, NIV). These teachings encouraged listeners to internalize these principles and apply them in their daily lives, rather than simply following a set of prescriptive rules. Jesus used parables, which are stories with deeper meanings, to illustrate complex concepts and provoke thought and reflection among His followers. This method aligns with the concept-based approach, as it aimed to transform individuals’ understanding and behavior through the exploration of fundamental truths.
